Gospel of Thomas - Logion 28

Jesus said: "I stood in the midst of the world, and I appeared to them in flesh. I found them all drunk, I found none among them thirsting; and my soul was afflicted for the sons of men, for they are blind in their heart and they do not see. For empty came they into the world, seeking also to depart empty from the world. But now they are drunk. When they have thrown off their wine, then will they repent."

Scriptures

Because the Sophian tradition is a mystical and experiential Christian path, we use many different scriptures in our studies. Here is a list of the major ones we use. It would be impossible to list everything since we use many texts.

Torah - The core Jewish Scriptures
Tanakh - Called the "Old Testament" by the Christian Community
Sefer Yetzirah - Book of Formation (Kabbalah)
Sefer Bahir - Book of Brightness (Kabbalah)

A Note on Myth

In American culture, the word Myth has gotten a really bad connotation. It has been associated with lies, untruths, and fantasy. This is not the original meaning and not how Sophians view the word in context of spiritual texts. Myth is a story that is spiritually true even if the details are not factual. This means that the spiritual truth is much more important than the details. Yeshua spoke in parables which are the same as myth (just much shorter). So, when we use the word Myth it will refer to spiritual teachings that focus on the spiritual message and not the details or facts of what happened.
